Which tool can automatically fix your website for AI search?

2026-10-29 · Martin Nymann · 8 min reading

Only a tool with access to your website can fix anything. Here’s what can be fixed automatically, what no tool can fix, which platforms are working today, and five questions you should ask before making your choice.

Key takeaways

  • A tool can only fix your website if it is installed as a plugin, an app or a code integration. A monitoring tool can highlight the errors, but cannot fix them.
  • The technical layer can be corrected automatically: llms.txt, structured data, meta-texts and robot rules. No tool can determine whether AI recommends you.
  • In Geoa's survey of 1,912 Nordic companies, companies with a technical score of 85 were used as a source by AI in 54.5 per cent of cases, compared with 24–39 per cent among those at the bottom of the technical rankings.
  • A llms.txt on its own made no difference in the same measurement (43.6 per cent with the file, compared with 43.3 per cent without).
  • A safe tool only makes changes that can be completely undone, without asking for confirmation, and then checks afterwards that the change has gone live.

Which tool can automatically fix my website for AI search? Short answer: Only a tool that has access to your website can make any changes. This is done via a plugin, an app or code integration. A tool that merely analyses can show you the errors, but you’ll have to fix them yourself. Geoa fixes llms.txt, structured data, meta descriptions and robot rules via the WordPress plugin, the Shopify app, the Umbraco package or Claude Code. You decide for yourself what it’s allowed to do without your consent.

That’s the right question to ask before you pay for an AI visibility tool. Most tools in this category measure whether ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity mention you. That’s useful, but a measurement doesn’t fix anything. If you don’t have a developer or a marketing department, the report will end up in a folder, and the errors will still be there in three months’ time.

This guide explains what a tool can actually fix on a website, what no tool can fix, how to check that a fix has gone live, and which platforms are effective today. The figures relating to Nordic companies are our own. We state where they come from.

What’s the difference between a tool that measures and one that fixes?

Access to your website. Broadly speaking, there are three types of AI visibility tools:

  • Tools that measure. They ask the AI engines the questions your customers ask and show whether you’re mentioned. They have no access to your website.
  • Tools that suggest. They scan your website from the outside and generate a list of what needs correcting. Some provide ready-made code that you or your developer must implement.
  • Tools that fix. These are installed on your website as a plugin, an app or an integration within your code. This means they can apply the fix and then check that it’s in place.

The third type is the only one that takes the work off your hands. So always ask how the tool accesses your website. If the answer is ‘it doesn’t’, it’s a measurement tool, regardless of what the homepage calls it.

What can a tool automatically fix on your website?

The technical layer that AI engines and Google read before they read your text. These are the same things a web developer would correct if you asked them to:

  • llms.txt: a file that tells AI models what your business is and which pages are most important.
  • Structured data (schema markup): machine-readable information about your company name, address, services, prices and FAQs.
  • Meta titles and descriptions: what appears in search results, and the first thing an AI engine reads about the page.
  • Crawler rules: whether OAI-SearchBot, Googlebot and other search crawlers are allowed access.
  • Page content: a heading that doesn’t describe what the page is about, a missing Q&A block, an FAQ section, alt text and internal links.

The first four do not alter your text. They are superimposed on the page and can be removed again without affecting anything you have written yourself. The last one alters your content, and that is a different kind of decision. We’ll come back to that.

What can no tool fix for you?

Whether the AI chooses to recommend you. The technology determines whether AI engines can ‘read’ you and use your website as a source. It doesn’t determine whether they mention you as a good choice. That depends on factors outside your website: what others write about you, your reviews, how well-known you are in your industry, and how many competitors are vying for the same search queries.

We’ve measured this ourselves. In our review of the automated SEO, the companies that the AI recommended by name were, technically speaking, just as good as those it didn’t recommend. A tool that promises you a place in ChatGPT’s results is making a promise that no one can keep. It is also stated in OpenAI’s own help section that a place in the search results is not guaranteed.

So the technology is the door, not the recommendation. But without an open door, you won’t get in.

Does the technical aspect make a difference to whether AI uses your website?

Yes, in our survey of 1,912 Nordic companies, a high technical score went hand in hand with being used as a source. Companies with a technical score of 85 were used as a source by AI in 54.5 per cent of cases. Among those at the bottom of the technical rankings, the figure was between 24 and 39 per cent. That is why it is worth getting the technical aspects right, and why it makes sense to automate them.

But it is the overall picture that counts, not a single file. The same measurement showed that a llms.txt on its own made no difference: 43.6 per cent were used as a source with the file and 43.3 per cent without. Google also states in its guide to generative AI in search that Google Search does not use llms.txt, and that structured data is not a requirement. A tool that merely uploads a llms.txt and calls it AI optimisation has done the bare minimum of work. The figures and methodology are available on our open data page.

Which platforms can be fixed automatically today?

It depends on what the platform allows an external party to write. WordPress is the most open. Shopify restricts access further. This is what it looks like on Geoa, October 2026:

Platform It can be corrected
WordPress and WooCommerce
Free plugin from wordpress.org
llms.txt, structured data, meta descriptions, robot rules, internal links, redirects and on-page content
Shopify
App in Shopify
Structured data and meta descriptions on product and collection pages
Umbraco
NuGet package
llms.txt, structured data and meta texts
Claude Code
The fixes are pulled into your own code repository
All types, because it’s your own code
Wix, PrestaShop, Shopware
Coming soon
Until then, you’ll receive the corrections as ready-made suggestions that you can implement yourself

If you use a system that isn’t on the list, the tool can still analyse and make suggestions. It just can’t make any changes. This isn’t a fault with the tool. It’s the platform that decides.

What is the tool allowed to do without asking you?

Only what can be completely undone. That’s the rule we’ve built the tool around, and it’s one worth applying to any tool:

  • Can be completely undone: llms.txt, structured data, meta texts and robot rules. These are applied on top of the page. If the change is removed, the page is exactly as it was before.
  • Cannot be completely undone: internal links in the body text, redirects and changes to the content itself. These alter something you have written or where your visitors end up.

At Geoa, the SEO expert asks about everything from the start. You can allow it to correct the first group itself. The second group always requires your approval, regardless of what you’ve chosen. Ask another tool the same question: what does it do without my approval, and how do I undo it?

How do you know that the correction actually went live?

Because the tool checks your website afterwards and shows you the result. ‘Correction submitted’ is not the same as ‘correction live’. A plugin might be disabled, a cache might be serving the old page, and a theme update might overwrite what was corrected yesterday.

There are three things you should be able to see:

  • That the fix is on the correct page. At Geoa, nothing counts as completed until it has been checked live on your website.
  • That it remains in place. If a theme update overwrites the fixes, Fix Guard detects this and reapplies them.
  • That you can undo changes. All fixes are recorded in a work log, where they can be rolled back.

We use the tool ourselves at geoa.app and record the errors and fixes in a public log, including those where the effect hasn’t yet taken hold.

Five questions to ask before you choose

Question A good answer
1. How do you access my website?A plugin, an app or an integration specifically for your platform. Otherwise, the tool won’t fix anything.
2. What do you fix without my permission?Nothing to begin with, and only things that can be completely undone if you give your permission.
3. How can I tell that it’s gone live?A check of the actual page after the fix, not just a status update saying it’s been deployed.
4. What happens if my theme overrides it?The tool detects this and makes the correction again.
5. What do I keep if I stop using it?A clear answer as to what will remain and what will disappear with the plugin.

If you’d like the full list of requirements for an AI visibility tool, including measurement and pricing, you’ll find it in the guide to choosing a tool.

How much does it cost to have it fixed automatically?

At Geoa, automatic corrections are included in all paid plans, starting from €39 per month for one website. By comparison, a SEO specialist costs over 35,000 DKK. a month in salary. You can try it for free for 14 days without a credit card, and on the paid plans we’ll set up a SEO expert for you. You’ll keep the price you start on. All plans are listed on the pricing page.

Frequently asked questions

Which tool can automatically fix my website for AI search?
A tool that is installed on your website as a plugin, an app or a code integration. Geoa optimises llms.txt, structured data, meta descriptions and robot rules via the WordPress plugin, the Shopify app, the Umbraco package or Claude Code, and you decide for yourself what it is allowed to do without your consent. A tool that only measures can show the errors, but cannot correct them.

Can a tool guarantee that ChatGPT will recommend my business?
No. A tool can ensure that the AI engines can read your website and use it as a source. Whether they recommend you also depends on what others write about you and on the competition in your sector. OpenAI itself states that a place in ChatGPT’s search results is not guaranteed.

Is it safe to let a tool automatically fix my website?
It is, provided the tool only makes changes that can be completely undone without asking. llms.txt, structured data, meta texts and robot rules are added to the page and can be removed again. Changes to your text, your links and your redirects should always require your approval.

Do I need to know how to code to use automatic corrections?
No. On WordPress, Shopify and Umbraco, you install a plugin, an app or a package, and the corrections are applied from there. Only the Claude Code method is for those who build their own website from scratch using code.

What happens to the fixes if a theme update overwrites them?
A good tool will detect this and apply the fixes again. In Geoa, this feature is called Fix Guard. It monitors whether the fixes are still present on your website and reapplies them before your visibility drops.

Geoa’s own figures: 1,912 companies in Denmark, Norway and Sweden across 15 sectors, measured from 26 July to 24 August 2026, analysed on 30 August 2026. ‘Used as a source’ means that the AI response referred to the company’s own website. The measurement shows a correlation; it does not mean that the score alone is the cause.
