Rank Math is Yoast’s closest rival and an excellent SEO plugin — with over 4 million installations, 404 monitoring, redirects and schema built into the plugin itself. In July 2026, they launched AI Visibility: brand tracking in AI responses, including sentiment analysis, citations and competitor comparisons, which requires a Rank Math AI subscription on top of the plugin.

As with Yoast, our advice is not to switch: stick with Rank Math for your SEO foundation. The difference this page focuses on is the transparency of the metrics, the language used and what happens after the report — and in this respect, we measure things differently to them.

Which engines are they actually measuring?

Rank Maths’ own launch guide describes the setup in detail — brand, description, country, weekly or monthly frequency — but does not provide a list of which AI engines are measured. The guide only mentions ChatGPT as an example and otherwise refers to “query-supported AI models”. We searched for a public list of engines on 24 August 2026 and found none.

There may well be several engines behind the scenes — we’re not claiming otherwise. But you should know what you’re being assessed on BEFORE you buy an assessment. Geoa publicly names its five engines, and each measurement shows, for each engine, what was asked and what was answered.

Subscription on top of your subscription

AI Visibility is not part of the Rank Math plugin — it requires an active Rank Math AI subscription on top of that. The plugin itself costs from €7.99/month (Pro) to €54.99/month (SEO + Speed), and AI usage is billed separately. It’s a fair deal, but do the maths: the total cost of the plugin plus the AI subscription should be compared with the Geoa Starter plan at 299 kr/month, which includes the analytics, the fix tool AND the AI articles.

And remember the context from our own data: the technical score predicts whether AI will CITE you as a source — not whether you’ll be recommended. A metric without any action behind it won’t make a difference to either.

Rank Math fixes SEO — who fixes GEO?

The Rank Math plugin is excellent for classic technical SEO: 404 logs, redirects and schema are built in, and it’s genuinely useful. The AI Visibility module, on the other hand, focuses on measurement: dashboards, queries, sentiment and raw transcripts.
